Kicking it live on the Promenade de la Plage, Nice. One of the statues along that long boardwalk stretching from the airport and the Promenade des Anglais, the scene of the 2016 massacre. I really like this one - it has an air of defiance to it, caught almost mid-flight when gazed upon from below. All the World’s troubles seem beneath it, only the beauty of the movement and the breathtaking surroundings matter. Such is the spirit around Nice, as it seems to a tourist eye anyway. But then maybe so it was before the 2016 Bastille Day attack. Either way, it’s definitely worth a pause and a think. Enjoy!

This image somehow always makes me think of those old UK Robin Hood tv series... you know, Clannad soundtrack, Hearn Hunter and the really nasty, bald-headed Gulnar character 😉 This is actually part of the outdoor 'decor' I shot while testing my no focus preview, fly size peephole, antique bellows Zeiss Ercona camera. Amazingly, most of those shots turned out ok. Makes you wonder what we're paying all that 💸💸💸💰💵💴💶💷💳💎for these days. I still use the same no look focusing with my Leica when I need a quick action shot. And my 5D, 6D XT-1 etc still can't pull off the film tonality of medium format the way that Ercona could. And that thing was fun to shoot, too. Hmm...

A friend of mine mentioned a warm place today and immidiately I thought of this pic I took in May 2015 at Porto Santo. I like to call this 'Watering the desert' as this man was pouring water right into dry sand just to nourish a few blades of grass that sprouted from it here and there. It looked really bizarre to someone who's used to taking a lush green lawn for granted. Got an analog version of this I have to find and scan, too.
