Hey there. Hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy making it.
I love photography in general. The creative and creation process, the shoots, the workshops, the people, the final image, the cameras, lights, books and everything else tied to this beautiful form of artistic expression – I love everything about capturing a moment in the way I would envision remembering it.
The photography I dig most is analog, by default shooting film mostly on Hasselblad and Leica cameras, but the thought process always starts with the final image and I enjoy experimenting with all manners of equipment and techinques.
When I started this blog, I was still a hobby photographer treating my passion like a pass-time, not yet a serious, lifelong commitment. I have since graduated to starting work as a professional photographer and my mission, however distant, is to become one of the World’s best photographers, whatever the genre or discipline.
All my best,
ps. YASTREBSKY is my artistic moniker. My real name is Marcin Jastrzębski – I was born in Poland and raised in Canada, where I’ve had my last name mispronounced in a thousand different ways. YASTREBSKY came up most often and I just thought ‘why fight it’. It seems the most universal, natural spoken representation that everyone finds easy to use, so I adopted it eventually as my artistic alter-ego. Plus, it brings me back to my high school days – you know what I’m talking about, Mr. Turner ;).
